With an arthroscope, the doctor is able to look inside the joint, identify and surgically repair the problem. Small incisions called portals allow the instruments into the joint space where the tiny camera can visualize the area and display it onto a monitor in the operating room. This allows the surgeon to see the joint more clearly, diagnose the problem more completely and make the necessary corrections all in one simple procedure.
