Best Core Stabilization Exercises

Best Core Stabilization Exercises

When it comes to which types of exercises you should prioritize, those that focus on the core stabilization should be at the top of your list. Having ample core strength is incredibly important to maintain proper mobility. By doing the right exercises to improve your core strength, you can reduce back pain, improve your balance, and gain better posture.

Here are some of the best core stabilizing exercises that you can perform to strengthen your core and prevent injury.

Top Exercises for Core Stabilization

The Marching Hip Bridge

This exercise is great if you want to increase your pelvic stability. To perform this exercise, lay on your back with your arms at your sides and your palms down. Keeping your shoulders and feet on the ground, raise your hips up until you are in the hip bridge position. Then, lift one foot off the ground to about 90 degrees. Hold this pose for a few seconds, and then lower your foot to the ground. With hips and rear still lifted, switch legs and continue to slowly alternate marching your feet for a few sets.

Forearm Planks

If you want to focus on ab and oblique muscle strength, consider forearm planks. Start by laying chest-down on the ground. Then, hold yourself up using your forearms with only your arms and toes touching the ground. Try and hold this position for as long as you can while squeezing your abs and glutes. For an extra challenge to this position, try adding toe taps or hip drops to your forearm planks.

Bird Dog

Another great core stabilization exercise is the bird dog. To do this move, start on your hands and knees. Then, lift your right arm and left leg at the same time, extending your arm in front of you and your leg behind you. Hold this pose for a few seconds and then alternate the opposite arm and leg. Throughout this exercise, it is incredibly important that you remember to maintain a straight spine to prevent injury.
